Night Phonk? I Guess?

In my typical fashion, I was inspired by what I thought was the resurgance of 90s Southern Hip-Hop with Horror influences. After deciding to start making this music and po tentially rapping over it, I find that not many people like that style. I had also already heard what was known as “Night Phonk” at the time on youtube. I think now it’s considered Wave Phonk, I’m not sure. A genre dominated by new producers lacking direction and skill, I figured I would be snarky and title my songs “How To Make _” and release a series with what I considered to be the epitome of each sub-genre. I lost steam pretty quick.

Stutter House Phonk FANs!

The kids started abusing Gross-Beat on FL Studio and decided to tokenize it as it’s own genre “Stutter House Phonk”. No Gross-beat with DC Offset causing volume envelopes was used in this song. Getting a little more comfortable with overly saturating the sound here.

Brazilla

Once again playing with what the kids were doing. Phonk gaining more momentum caused nefarious sub-labels of bigger labels to artificially push via private playlist networks a newly created sub-genre known as “Brazilian Phonk”. Full of limiters slammed so hard on the master that the kick drums kill everything else in the song. So I made this to see how it would sound if everything was done more in a correct fashion. No heavy limiter on the master, the effect is done up the chain.
